No One Knows About Persian Cats picked up an award at theat the Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi this weekend. The award went to Hamed Behdad, who stars in the film, for best actor.
Tickets are now completely sold out for Sunday’s UK premiere and the Brightwide panel afterwards, but we’ll be posting all the photos and discussion highlights on here, so stay tuned.
good luck for sunday – hope all goes well
Congratulations on a very successful screening and Q&A at the London Film Festival on Sunday. I greatly enjoyed the film (fictional documentary?), and was inspired by the discussion afterward.
Here’s to a day when, to paraphrase director Bahman Gohbadi, we can talk about the Iranian arts scene on its own terms, rather than as a facet of the country’s politics.
No One Knows About Persian Cats… but I intend to find out.
After a a number of screenings at the LFF the Brightwide presentation was my last of the Festival and the least known to me. The film itself was an unexpected treat. As was the music. The discussion afterwards demonstrated the power of the idea behind Brightwide and I expect that many of those leaving like myself went on to discuss the film, the talk, the issues…
Thanks for your positive comments (and tweets!)
The objective of Brightwide is to create conversations about these films, and translate these conversations into positive actions.
Look out for a post about today’s event on this blog… and don’t forget to use your Brightwide.com promocodes.
I saw the film last night, and thought it was stunning! I loved the music and hope a cd will be released. All who took part are very brave and I was very moved by the plight of the musicians and all involved. I am meeting our Amnesty representative today to see how we can get a wider audience, both for this film and others. I thank Colin and Livia Firth for bringing this to our attention and wish Brightwide every success!
An inspirational film. We need to follow up with our support and action. These problems are no longer isolated national issues, but universal and global. Brightwide opens up the possibility of a global family working together to deal with the future in a way that puts people first.
I have written a review, published on the website, http://www.onhallowground.com Hope its OK!
And desperatey want to see it again, hopefully at the Riverside!
